What is Acetyl Glucosamine?

N-acetyl glucosamine is an amide used to reduce hyperpigmentation caused by aging and the sun, known as NAG, it promotes the synthesis of collagen, which is responsible for the elasticity, smoothness, and plumpness of skin. It can be metabolized into hyaluronic acid to increase the skin’s water moisture. Acetyl glucosamine functions as an anti-aging skin care ingredient based on its ability to replenish hyaluronic acid.

The Benefits of Acetyl Glucosamine

Acetyl Glycosamine (NAG) once on the skin, promotes the synthesis of collagen, which is responsible for the smoothness, and plumpness of skin. It is a promising ingredient of wrinkles, “2% can improve wrinkles in the eye area” (incidecoder). “A study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Science evaluated the effect of acetyl glucosamine on water content in human skin. In vivo, the researchers observed that topical treatments with a formulation containing N-acetyl-glucosamine led to an increase in skin moisturization and a decrease in skin flakiness” (The Derm Review).

Finally, acetyl glucosamine can reduce the appearance of facial hyperpigmentation. This ingredient actively reduces the production of melanin which is a pigment that gives skin its color. When you have melanin on your skin, your skin can produce dark spots and uneven skin tones. However, the acetyl glucosamine prohibits this, leaving your skin even and bright.

Acetyl glucosamine’s Skin care Power Duo

Acetyl glucosamine works well with niacinamide. Together, these two products can successfully target wrinkles and uneven skin tones and leave the skin looking brighter and more even. According to Cathy Beaupain, Founder of LeCerre Skincare, “N-Acetyl glucosamine (NAG) is a great alternative to alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) such as glycolic acid and citrus acid. AHA has many benefits but it also may cause irritation and in some cases increase skin damage resulting from UVB exposure. New technology was applied to create N-acetyl-glucosamine (NAG). NAG has been clinically shown to plump and smoothen the skin, reducing the visibility of fine lines while increase skin moisturization. NAG together with Niacinamide at the right concentration will also decrease pigmentation. ”

How To Use It

After washing your face, directly apply 1-2 pumps of the serum on your hands. Then rub this serum directly onto your face and neck. Apply to the entire face and neck for the most effective skin brightening. Do this process once in the morning and once in the evening. Follow with whatever moisturizers or serums you prefer.
